Description
Cars Number 80 and Number 90 . Built by G.C . Kuhlman Company in 1911 at their Collinwood , Ohio Plant . Order Number 493 for two double truck closed city cars to seat forty to forty-four passengers each . Cars were built with Brill 27G trucks with 33 " wheels and had Eclipse fenders . Cars were classed as 30'8 " cars of eleven window design with deck roof and had the following dimensions : NOTES-39 ' 4 " Length over dash- C ; 30 ' 8 " Car body exclusive of platforms- B,C,D ; 18 ' 7 " Truck centers- C ; 4 ' 6 " Wheel centers- A; 2 ' 8 " Window post centers- C,D ; 6 ' 4 " Door height- C ; 10 ' 10 " Track to Trolley Board Height- C ; 8 ' 2 " Car width over sides- D ; 8 ' 5 " Car width over all- D ; 20 Ton Approximate weight- D . (Reference for extrapolation) A- Known dimension from J.G . Brill Company ; B- Recorded dimension from Trolley Sparks Bulletin 80 ; C- Extrapolated dimension from photograph ; D- Similar car dimension from Brill Magazine of 1912 . This print was made from a 5x7 negative owned by M.D . McCarter of 1507 West North Lane , Phoenix , Arizona , who copied an original Kuhlman photograph (approximately 3-1/2 x 9) owned by Charles Goethe of 1108 Southeast Seventh Street , Fort Lauderdale , Florida . All copies made from this original can be identified by the two small water spots below the word RAILROAD . The photograph is of car number 80 . The lense of the camera was in direct line with the center of the controller , just to the left of the letter B . These cars later renumbered 45 and 46 after the 1912 reorganization .
